(Except that two years ago I nearly died from pneumonia, and I was without oxygen to the brain for a while, so that could have caused problems - I didn't have fits until after this.)

He found me sitting on the floor in like a yoga position. I wasn't aware of myself at all, until he spoke to me... then I sort of -woke- up. I wasn't lying on the floor like usual - I usually collapse completely. Could this be a sort of a mild fit, do you think? Also, do any drugs or combinations of drugs cause fits? Because they say I'm not epileptic, but they can't say why I have them. Any ideas would be gratefully received.
Sounds like 'Petit Mal', a mild form of epilepsy which an ex-girlfriend of mine suffered from. A petit mal episode rarely involves falling or spasms, but rather transient lapses of consciousness. It's not dissimilar from being in a trance-like state.
