withdrawl from Effexor

Posted by sarahx on March 14, 2001, at 11:47:29

Friends, This discussion group seems like a life line for me! I was taking Effexor for 2 months and was up to 150 mg/day. It helped my depression, but didn't control my almost daily migraines. So my physician lowered the Effexor by 1/2 each week and added Zoloft increasing by 1/2 each week for 2 weeks. The Zoloft seemed to help my migraines by the second week. Yesterday, i stopped taking the Effexor (I was done to 37.5 mg for 1 week prior) and almost immediately started getting tingly fingers, feet and face, dizziness and jittery feeling (like an incredible caffeine overdose). I called my physician and he gave me prescription for meclizine. Now my questions are: How long will this awful feeling last??? Has meclizine helped anyone out there get past this?? Did I come off the Effexor too quickly?? Any suggestions on how to get through this?? It's very hard to stay focused at work when I feel as if I'm being jittered apart. Thank you. Sarah X
