OCD/SP/serotonin wondering

Just wondering, for whomever wants to take a shot:

OCD (and I think social phobia) are i think supposedly maybe caused by an excess of serotonin.

So why should SSRI's work for these disorders?

Anyone know if any research has been done on anything that REDUCES serotonin (like a serotonin reuptake agonist or whatever) for either ocd or sp?
