> I can't seem to do well at anything and everything I do, I seem to screw up. I have been recently diagnosed with obssessive compulsive symptoms, dysthymia, an anxiety disorder (perhaps causing panic attacks) and having an Anankastic personality. I am 20yrs old, male.
You are not the problem, though your genes may be! In your 1st post above you ask if you're not 'meant'' to withstand life's stresses. That sounds v fatalistic to me. Like everyone on this board you have a psychiatric disorder (caused by an unknown combination of genetic & enviromental factors) which will inevitably impair yr ability to function. Despite scoring exam results in the 99th percentile, I have never been able to work due to my social phobia+dysthymia (& resultant cognitive dysfunction, depersonalisation etc). Like you I'm male & 20something.
Perservere with the medications. You will be amazed what a difference the right one can make. In the UK Clomipramine is considered the gold standard for OCD, tho is used less frequently these days due to its myriad side-effects (which I can attest to!). The dose you are on is v low (esp. 4 OCD); Ihit 300mg for 10 weeks with no response.
Good luck,
Jah.
