In reply to Re: Serotonin antagonists, Where to get RITANSERIN??, posted by anita on February 2, 2001, at 8:34:37

Hey Anita,

I'd like to know the web address for the Indian place selling ketanserin. I read from a recent book on ADs that ritanserin is not being studied for depression anymore, but for "other psychiatric illnesses". Didn't say which ones, and I don't know if it was dropped for depression because it was not very effective, or some economic/political bullshit in the pharmaceutical industry.
I have some cyproheptadine, and it does nothing for the sexual dysfunction. It only makes my eyes dry. I don't know what the hell to do.

Ritanserin isn't available anywhere as far as I know (I've looked), but ketanserin, very much the same, is available from an overseas pharmacy in India. If you're really interested, I'll find the web site. I think, tho, that the manufacturer has stopped making it, so you might not be able to use it long-term. I do know that both ritanserin and ketanserin were in clinical trials and they proved ineffective for schizophrenia, but I think they're in trials for depression now.

So, I'd try those first. Personally, I've benefited from low-dose risperidone for depression.
