Crystal--
Many pdocs prefer Klonopin to Xanax. Both are benzos, but, because K. is longer-acting, it is thought to have less potential for addiction. It does not normally cause weight gain.
Also, you might be interested in a book, "The Anxiety and Phobia Workbook" by Bourne. My friend who has your symptoms (and med history) found it *very* helpful. If you are interested in it, you can click on the "Books" hyperlink at the top of this page and scroll down to the Babblers recommendations section. The link there will take you to Amazon.com. (If you end up buying it by linking from Dr. Bob's page, he gets a 15% commission at no extra cost to you.)

I know that xanax is an addictive drug and do not think I should take it daily. Does anyone have any suggestions of a good drug for this anxiety and panic that does not cause weight gain and not too sedative. I am going to the doctor tommorrow and would like to have some ideas on what would work.
