My chronic depression did not get better until my endocrinologist put me on enough synthroid and cytomel to treat the hypothyroid aggressively. That was 9 months ago. Within a few weeks of that, I began to feel better, but the improvement has continued all this time. I had been on thyroid meds for a few years, prescribed by my psychopharmocologist, but not enough to fully treat the problem.

-have been on this dose for about a week and hope to push it a bit higher. The last TSH was 3.3(this is before current bout of T3).I have been a bit concerned that the T3 is making my agitation worse, but have no signs of toxicity.Agitation at present is the worst thing about the depression-I have recently changed from ativan to Klonopin, but actually I think the Ativan works better for me.When very agitated I try a one of dose of mellaril, but it does give me side effects.I have been reading on this board about gabapentin, and wondered if this would be a helpful add on.At present the tricyclic is helping only minimally, and is also making me sedated,so I'm hoping the switch to Nardil will be helpful.Julia
