Dear bee,I agree with Scott regarding the potential for increased anticholinergic and cardiotoxic effects with the combined use of amitriptyline (Elavil) and maprotiline (Ludiomil). If I may add, the concomitant use of these drugs also increases the risk for seizures. Therefore, caution should be exercised when combining these drugs.
BTW, although similar in mechanism of action and side-effect profile, Elavil is a tricyclic antidepressant while Ludiomil is a tetracyclic antidepressant.
