In reply to adding other meds to Parnate, posted by curran on September 6, 2000, at 19:37:29
Hi Curran,
There's a number of meds you can add to Parnate. Of the tricyclics, usually desipramine or nortryptiline is added. You can also add Wellbutrin or stimulants like Ritalin. All of these have to be added very slowly and carefully, keeping an eye out for your blood pressure. You CANNOT add an SSRI or St. John's Wort. Supposedly you can add reboxetine, but I don't know if there's been enough experience on that combo to deem it safe.
Other meds to add: an anticonvulsant, Lithium, lamotrigine, gabapentin, pindolol, Klonopin...
Or you can try another MAOI, like nardil or selegiline.
I've combined a lot of meds with MAOIs; if you tell me the symptoms that haven't resolved on Parnate, maybe I can suggest an add-on med.
good luck,

And how about SSRIs? Any success stories out there? what about reboxetine?(and if i did add something, it would be with a doctor's authorization).
