Bill,
I believe that if you check the box that says "Notify you of later follow-ups to this thread" your NAME will appear in Blue on the post itself. Anyone's name in Blue can be clicked on to send them an e-mail.
On this post, you'll notice that at the top, my name is in black (can't be clicked on for e-mail). If yours is in blue, your address is available.
There may be other ways for people to get access, but that's the only one I know.
