In fact, I think in this case it's not a misconfiguration, but related to how long it takes the search to run. (For example, I think it'll work for 1998, which has fewer posts to search.)
Searching is something I've wanted to improve. Do any of you know of a good search function, written in Perl and not requiring SQL?
In the meantime, I've added an option that uses AltaVista to search all of Psycho-Babble at once. It's quick, but I think its results can be incomplete:
