She thinks it was my depression not being under control yet. Whatever the cause, it's not a problem at all anymore.

I have read all the posts about Effexor and wondered if adding a small dose, like 37.5 XR taken in the a.m. would help counter this? The side effects sound pretty scarry though and are worse at smaller doses? I know from experience that really activating meds are not something I can tolerate. Feeling wired or racy is worse than the actual depression for me. It seems like there must be some compromise available--other than large doses of caffeine.

Lynn, I take Effexor-XR 375 mg/day (started at 37.5) in the morning, and it definitely energizes me! I take a small dose (40-50 mg/night) of Serzone so I can sleep! This is the opposite of what you are asking...but might suggest (if you react the same as I did to Effexor-XR) it might counter the drowsiness you mention.--Cindy W
(P.S. the side effects of Effexor-XR have been practically nonexistent for me, except for some difficulty sleeping).--CIndy W
