I have dysthymia and thank God for antidepressants......I got over the embarrassment of having to take them a while ago, because I know I can't go back to the way it was without them....anyway........since I have to stay on them all the time, I am always (after about 6 months to a year) having to increase my dose and eventually change to another one. Six years ago I was on Paxil and it has been the best for me....but of course eventually it stopped working and I had to change. I have been on Effexor now for about 2 years and had maxed out at 225 mg (which I have been weaning off of the past 3 weeks----it has NOT been fun, to say the least)....My doctor is going to try me again on Paxil since I did so well before, he said it will be like I had never taken it before since I had been off it a while. I started today on 20 mg......Of course, and this is the first day and I know that,,,today has been horrible,,,,like I am on nothing.Has anyone switched from Effexor to something else? Although Paxil worked so good for me before,,,,,,I guess I am skeptical that I am going from Effexor 225 mg to Paxil 20 mg and am going to feel great....I don't know, I have just heard how much stronger Effexor was than anything else that I fear now Paxil won't do anything for me (boy....can you see the negativity I have in me??!!)
Please let me know if any of you know about this (like going from Effexor to Paxil). Thanks
