I've had some strange reactions to the meds I've taken over the years, but this one takes the cake. I thought I might be having an unrelated reaction to something else, but I'm fairly sure it was the Nortriptyline I was taking. 2 days after I began Nortrip I had a strange feeling in my... rear end. I didn't connect it to the med, but when my rear end started to really hurt I knew it right away. I stopped the med as soon as I made the connection. I had only gotten up to 50mgs. Anyway, within a day or two after stopping, I called my PDoc. He told me the med had nothing to do with the pain. Then he made a comment which pissed me off, something like, "well, we seem to have these sort of problems all the time with you" ; he said it sarcastically. Mind you, this Doc is also my therapist. I've been with him for a year and a half and haven't gotten anywhere with him.
The long and short of this is, I feel betrayed by my PDoc, and now that I've lost this trust, I can't see myself going back to him. I cancelled my last appointment with him, knowing I had 3 weeks before I would see him again. This should give me some time to make up mind.
Anyway, has anyone run into this side effect before (on Nortrip or any drug?) I went to an old PDR book , and lo and behold, there was the side effect (anal pain), listed along with laundry list of others.
My PDoc has never been the gentle type; he comes off a little snooty and uptight. I thought his approach would give me the discipline I needed to find the right med, but right now I don't really trust the man nor think he can help any longer.
