Tianeptine and Topamax (long)

Posted by Anna P. on May 1, 2000, at 12:39:51

Hello there. I'm on Tianeptine and Topamax now for two reasons:
1)having treatment resistant depression
2)have no other choices at the moment
3)major symptoms are lack of energy, psychomotor slowdown, fatigue
The combo Tianeptine-Topamax has a stimulating effect which is good, no cognitive problems.
However, together with Tianeptine it causes anxiety. This combo has brought me out from dysfunctional state (not being able to do anything). It doesn't cause the sexual dysfunction, but I do gain weight on it as I crave sweets.
But, having problems with anxiety since my early 20-ies, this is no good chemical match for me. I feel on it like I was in my early 20-ies:anxious, oversensitive, too emotional. This is not good. But anxiety is the major problem. I've learn to control my anxiety
years ago through SSRI's and therapy, now , I'm back at my previous level.

I'm affraid to change my medications but I need to do something. My major problem is anxiety. What are my choices?

Change the base medication? But to which? There is only left Amineptine and Parnate. Cardiac effects that I got after moclobemide exclude Parnate already, as well as stimulants.

Should I try Neurontin (has antianxiety effects)?

I'm still waitingpatiently for my shipments of amineptine and amisulpride
