I was just diagnosed bipolar along with borderline personality disorder. They have started me on Wellbutrin, primarily for depression, but also to help me stop using cocaine. I know nothing about this med and would appreciate it if anyone out there could clue me in on how long it will be before the cravings for coke go away and just how will I feel then. I'm not addicted to coke, but I think it could be a problem if not nipped in the bud soon.
Also, is it normal to be diagnosed with bipolar so late in life (I'm 36). In January of last year, I found out my wife had an affair with my best friend and it (along with a lot of other stressors in my life at that time) devestated me to the point of me planning my suicide. I told my psych. about this and was sent to a mental hospital for three months. It was there that all the diagnoses started. Can bipolar be triggered by something like that, or was it always there and I just didn't notice it?
