In reply to Effexor withdrawal, how long?, posted by Sara T on April 22, 2000, at 18:40:36
In my experience Effexor has the most difficult withdrawals, while Paxil is a close second. The withdrawal symptoms usually subside in anywhere from 1 week to 3. For people who have been on higher doses for longer time, withdrawals could be longer. I've even heard of nightmare stories where it took two or three months for longtime users of high doses. Yikes! Thankfully you were only on a low dose for a short time. That is definitely in your favor.
Do you have any Prozac leftover? Can you call your doc and see if he has any Prozac samples onhand? If not, can he call in to your pharamacy a prescription of say, 3 or 4 capsules of Prozac? If you could take Prozac for just a few days and then let it taper off on its own, it will make the withdrawals much more mellow. Wishing you a good day. JohnL
