In reply to Wellbutrin combined with Adderall?, posted by Mike on January 22, 2000, at 14:03:47
Hey Mike, I am currently taking 200mg Wellbutrin twice a day, and 10 mg Adderall three times per day. I have found that the combination cuts my appetite quite a bit, and the Adderall increases my energy enough to get a bit of exercise. So, I am slowly beginning to drop a little weight.
A WARNING though: initially I was taking Wellbutrin AND Prozac, when I stopped the Prozac I put on something like 15 pounds in six weeks. My theory, and my Dr. agreed, was that stopping the Prozac lowered my brain's serotonin levels drastically, causing the uncontrollable cravings for simple carbohydrates that I experienced(simple carbs. increase serotonin in the brain). Thus, all the cake, cookies, ect. causing the weight gain. So, if you decide to stop Prozac and start Wellbutrin, you might need to develop a way of coping with several weeks of "cravings", which should ease up once the Wellbutrin really kicks in(mine took about 10 weeks).CarolAnn
