aricept for depression

Posted by Ruth on January 4, 2000, at 20:27:48

I've had a difficult course with recurrent major depression. We've found a combo of meds which has made a big improvement (celexa, lamictal, respiridal). One of the target symptoms that remain has been a real difficulty with concentration and memory. My doctor has started me on a trial of aricept 10mg in an attempt to impact this. The drug is marketed for use for treating dementia (which I don't have). I gather there has been some use of it for people with bi-polar illness, but I can't find anything written on its use for unipolar depression.
I trust my doctor and realize that I'm on the odd combo of meds that I am because I've not been helped by many, many anti-depressants and more usual combos. But I would like to know if anyone has experience with aricept.
