Hi Nikki - too bad about the cold. Your trek to work sounds enough to exhaust anyone & hurl them into a cold! Enjoy your Pride & Prejudice. Craig & I went last week to see the movie theatre one. I love that type of thing. Love movies or books from the old times.
As to how things are here - first of all, it's below freezing & there's snow now. About 6 inches - partly I use metric/partly inches etc. We're "supposed to" have been using metric for years, but I think most people over say 30 use whatever combination feels ok to them. Anyway - snowy & cold is the formula these days. No sun today :-((
I've been off Celexa for about 5 weeks!!!! I feel fine. HOWEVER....I am not nearly as pleasant & possibly polite (how's that for alliteration?) as I was on meds (5 years). I guess I'm still leveling out after coming off it. I dunno. All I know is that what I feel is what comes out - in words and/or tone of voice. I don't mind it at all. BUT it can cause problems. Today, when Craig exaggerated something I said & made a sweeping statement that showed his frustration, I YELLED (who me? Kath?), "That's NOT what I said!!!!" Then he yelled "What's WRONG with you!!??"
I wish I'd said, "NOTHING" but I yelled back, "I'm being how I feel!!!!!" & he threw a box across the room & yelled, "Well I'm being how I feel too." Then there was lots more yelling. Jeez! Not what is usual around here AT ALLLLLL. Then he went out.
I'm in the front room now. Not long ago, he came back, ate out in the kitchen (usually sits on the sofa out here) & I heard his computer start up back in our little reading room. I'm not used to this!!! I'm not used to how to have arguments or fights. It feels very uncomfortable. Yuck.
:-(((As to Jay, he & his girlfriend, Alissa, moved into a cute little rented house last weekend. He has a kidney stone again, so had to quit his job. When he'll talk about it, he admits he's really worried about what's going to happen. A couple of years ago he had terrible problems - they needed to put a stent in & he spent the summer 2 years ago with a tube coming out of his back & had to empty any build-up of urine through a tube. The doc says the stone is small enough (3 cm) that it should come out itself, but it's been 2 weeks. Since being in their new place, I think he's using his usual way to not think about it - week & alcohol. At least he had stopped doing E. Last time I heard, he'd not done it for about 6 weeks. They don't have a phone yet, so any time I've gone over with phone messages for them, there are friends there & the place is as smokey as an opium-den...do you think opium-dens are smokey? sounded like a dramatic description ;-) I guess their friends think it's great having a place to go & smoke up with impunity!
I hope his stone soon passes.
Lily (our daughter, Elissa) is living with us now. She has Multiple Chemical Sensitivities... she's now receiving Disability. They wouldn't give it to her for MCS, although it has a totally astonishing negative impact on her life & quality-of-life. She was granted Disability for Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome. She can't work. She can't go out of the house without having reactions to all the junk around us that bothers her MCS. Such a list: any perfumes & they are in so many things....MOST shampoos (even "health food store, natural" ones), conditioners, deodorants, hair gels, mousses, sprays - basically all hair products & think of how many people use them. Soaps, laundry soaps, the WORST is fabric softener & dryer softener sheets, bleach, plastics & "off-gassing" of all kinds of plastic products (they emit formaldehyde & other Volatile Organic Compounds - VOC's). Stores - even grocery stores are a nightmare for her. She has a mask she has to wear at times like that & people look at her as though she's a freak. Teenagers are the worst...they'll stare, sneer & make ignorant comments, like "SARS!!!!!!" Add to product list: molds, car exhaust, deisel exhaust, cigarette smoke & smoke of any kind...woodsmoke from wood fires is one of the worst...incense. It's so discouraging.
ANYway, she's living with us. I love her to bits, but I had been looking forward once Jay made his 1st move out, a year ago, to just having Craig & I ONLY. Lily hates having to live with her parents (she's 29). She doesn't hate us LOL but misses her independence. She's lost so many thing! She lost Frank, she lost living in her own place, she lost her cats (at least she can visit them; they're living on a long-term loan to her former boyfriend's parents who live nearby); she's lost her ability to go out & do just about anything. Things I take so much for granted - going to the store; to a movie; for a bike-ride in the neighbourhood (dryer fumes from people's homes, paint fumes, wood smoke, scents from people who she passes).
She's going to the Naturopathic college & receiving various treatments - herbal, homeopathic, accupuncture, etc. SO I'm hoping that's continue to help (it's helping a bit).
WELL! Dontcha wish you didn't ask how things are? Here I'm blattering on & on.
