Well..
as a "mindless consumer", you are, bascially, paying the wages of the store employee's.. then, you're paying the wages of who ever made the product, feeding their children, and probably making the entire family's lives better.. The, theres the people that provide the materials that make the product, the people that provide the electricty that runs the shops and factories..
See where I'm going? Proving that, how ever little you think you are doing to help others, you are doing it..
Could you do a little voluntary work.. I know how much that helped my self esteem.. Contact your local hospital (or who ever provides mental health care in your area) and ask if you can get involved in giving service user opinions is one idea (and probably paid.. not much, but a little).. I know this is quite a big thing in Oz at the moment (we had Oz people visit us a few weeks ago, and my chief exec is at a conference about it in melbourne at the moment)..
But how ever little you think you are doing.. you are adding to peoples lives
