Karen, Good question. I'd guess that it has to do with the strength of each tablet, sustained or regular release. Probably, there is a reason that deals with FDA submission with the package insert. The regular release does leave your system faster and therefore could warrant a 50 mg per day higher dose..big guess on my part. It would be interesting to see what the other babblers have to say. blessings,
