?? re: PTSD/anxiety/books

Posted by Grandma on November 18, 1999, at 5:27:02

Is it possible that antidepressants could cause PTSD type symptoms 40 years after abuse? Are there any good meds for this diagnosis? Would going through expensive therapy be better than taking meds? Why does therapy make me feel worse? Why does a spouse who counsels others refuse to talk to me about such issues as childhood sexual abuse/rape, etc. How can talking to a therapist 45 minutes a week help when it brings up such questions/anxieties in between sessions? Is there a good book I could read to help answer some of these questions? Is having such an intense reaction to therapy indicating bipolar tendencies? Anyone's help would be much appreciated.
