> I recently read about Parke-Davis having completed a controlled study of the efficacy of Neurontin for social phobia. 3600 mg/day was the dose at which a high level of therapeutic benefit was achieved.

I was put on Neurontin (see thread above on social phobia posted by me) about 4 weeks ago. Personally I had few side effects. I am usually very sensitive to drugs but I was able to move up to 2400mg within a week and a half. At the first large increase I had one afternoon when I felt sort of spacy and "drunk" but then was OK. I continue to take it along with other meds.

> Has anyone found Neurontin (aka Gabapentin) to be effective for their social phobia? If so, at what dose and how long for it to take effect? Side effects? Many thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I continue on the 2400mg but could have gone higher. However it was not helping the depression so my doc has added other meds to it. At the 2400mg after about a week and a half, I noticed that I was so much more comfortable and relaxed with other people and at social gatherings. It was a nice feeling. This continues and the other meds seem to be helping the depression some.
