> I heard this week that Marplan(MAOI)is back on the market. Does anyone know why it was taken off the market originally? It was a Roche product. It is one of my options for next med try, but I want to know about it first. Thanks!
I don't know if there's truth to this rumor (that Marplan is available again) - I imagine they stopped selling it here in the first place because it wasn't profitable enough (maybe they were financially under the weather at the time). If it is, I'd like to know too, as it seems like it might be worth a try for me (various problems with other types of ADs, Nardil pooped out, can't go above 20mg of Parnate).
Marplan is a hydrazide, like Nardil, so there is the increased risk of pyridoxine (B6) deficiency. However, the few people I know who have taken it say it does not cause the weight gain that is so common with Nardil.
I know that even if it's not available here, it should be possible to order it from the UK (I *think* they are still using it there).
