Morgan,
I was in a cognitive behavior therapy treatment
program this summer, and after years of talk
therapy, etc., cognitive was the one that worked
for me. I embrace it!The changes in my life are amazing. I don't know
that folks on the outside notice too much, but
I can tell a difference, a tremendous difference! The book I used in my treatment program was "The
Feeling Good Handbook" by David. D. Burns, M.D.,
"Your Perfect Right: A Guide to Assertive Living"
by Robert Alberti and Michael Emmons. The best
way to use "The Feeling Good" book is to start
at the beginning... and go from there. I still
refer to each of these books often.Cognitive therapy changed my life. I rarely "beat
myself" up anymore by thinking the bad stuff
over and over and over.Hope my 2 cents helped!
