Serious Klonopin withdrawal

Posted by G-man885858 on March 12, 2009, at 15:39:23

Hello everyone,

I stopped klonopin on Friday Mar 6th after 3 months of 2 mg/day. I replaced it with Valium 5 mg, but I'm still seriously depressed and panicky.

I'm thinking of asking my Psychiatrist for an antidepressant to help with this. I want a tricyclic because I'm allergic to all SSRI's. Do you guys think this is a good idea?

Please help.

Hi,
According to the equivalence chart on benzo.org.uk, clonazepam (Klonopin) is twenty times as potent as diazepam (Vallium). So a 2mg dose of clonazepam would be equal to 40mg of diazepam. In other words, your 5mg dose of diazepam was about like quiting clonazepam cold turkey. Raise the dosage and withdrawal slowly.
Good Luck,
Jedi
