I posted on the thread Cymbalta withdrawals but have only gotten one response, I am on day one of quitting cold turkey and here is my original post, hope to hear from someone
ok signing up for this site was a major pain in the *ss but maybe it's just me since I am experiencing major side effects from Cymbalta. I have been taking it for about 3-4 weeks now and yesterday I almost fell over because of my balance. Also, I take Ambian CR at night and I knock out so bad my husband almost can't wake me up. If I have only been taking it that short of time do you think I will have major withdrawals? I am really concerned after reading this thread.

Welcome to babble! I'm sorry you only got one response to your post. I don't have any experience with Cymbalta, but titrating slowly and steadily is the best way to avoid a whole bunch of problems. You might want to try posting on the medication board, even though you could get punted back here. There's just so much more traffic on that board. You could put a big HELP in the subject line and you should get some good responses. There are a lot of experienced posters here, unfortunately some boards get more "traffic" than others and medication is probably the one with the most posters.
You should get some answers to your Ambien question also. Good luck!

I know you posted this a few months ago but I was wondering whether/how you quit this drug & how you're doing, and what were all the side effects that made you think about quitting?
I stopped a different drug (remeron/mirtazapine) about a week ago after 3 weeks, no tapering except for 1 halved dose, and I feel like the drug is still with me, but then worry that it's just me getting worse. There is conflicting info on whether 3-4 weeks is a long enough period to require tapering & it's confusing. I reacted very badly for the 1st week and I'm wondering if that makes a difference in how the quitting goes.

I didn't have much room on the previous post to say everything I wanted to. I had horrible withdrawl symptoms coming off Cymbalta. If I had to do it over again I would wean off slowly. I'm ok now, but it seems like it took forever. I had what I call brain zapping. That was the worst of it for me. There is hope for you, so don't give up. If I can make it through the horror anyone can. I do have a problem with depression because of chronic pain, but I personally will never take another antidepressant because of what I went through. That's just my choice. Good luck to you and hang in there. It will get better.

How long were you on Cymbalta before you quit?
from just about all accounts I've heard & read quitting cold turkey (and even with tapering, too) is varying degrees of awful, but most people have been on their med for longer...since I was only on mirtazapine 3 weeks I don't know what to think...I'm spacey/detached with no appetite...don't know if it's a mild form of the dizziness & nausea commonly felt in withdrawal, or just worse depression.

MM3, I was on Cymbalta for about a year before I quit cold turkey. I don't know if being on it for 3 weeks would cause withdrawal symptoms or not. Did you ask a doctor about what you are going through? It could probably be worse depression, but I'm not sure. Some people end up trying another antidepressant to help with the symptoms. I'm just scared of them now. I don't know what to do because I am depressed. Let me know how you are doing. It did get better for me.
