Return to Benzo Symptoms Years Out

Posted by Zazen on March 20, 2008, at 18:19:50

I have been off all drugs for many years after a severe and long lasting benzo withdrawal. After some stress and fatigue I have gone back into months of the exact same symptoms as my original withdrawal...EXACT! This is not anxiety.

I have since met another man who is in the same shape here in the USA, two in the UK and one in Australia that has recovered after 10 months.

I spoke with the famous benzo researchers/doctors: Ashton and Leder and both stated benzos can leave an engram in the CNS of the symptoms and return years later - evidently a type of damage that can be stressed provoked.

Those of us who are in this would like to connect with anyone else that has had this happen.

Never heard of it before. What do you do about it? Phillipa

Unbelieveable I'd post on meds too for more responses as this is so strange and unique. And they say my benzo use over 35years is only keeping me out of withdrawal so why withdraw? Phillipa

I got at least 30 years from mine and next door neighbor is stii getting the benefits after at least 25years. So I guess mileage varies. Phillipa

The sort of thing I'm talking about is feeling spacy and faint, especially in the early afternoon.

I still take 5mg Valium per day. No opiates though.

Sleep is always a problem, PJ.

I take melatonin, magnesium and stuff like that.

Some sleeps are better than others.
