Well last night was my last night to take the zyprexa Its been about almost 6 weeks since I started cutting my 5mgs down to just taking a small piece off a 2.5 and last night I kept waking up feeling really weird and was sweating bad and today I have felt a little anxious and stomach feels nasious on and off been dealing with this since I started weaning off of it and decided I am not taking it any longer I also take klonopin .5 mgs a day and 40mgs of paxil will stay on those two drugs was put on the zyprexa just for the bad anxiety I was having until the paxil was working well and I am sure it is, Would like to hear from ones on came off of zyprexa. I got off zyprexa after 8 years on 5mg. Took a few months to get off. Your withdrawal symptoms sound familiar to me.
Since you haven't been on it as long as me I think it should go easier. For me the worst of the withdrawals were over in a few days, but lingering problems of brain readjustment took probably 3 months. Lost a lot of weight. Was nervous a lot in unpredictable waves. Slept fine, but woke feeling like I had been juiced with a pot of coffee, very nervous almost paranoia. It faded in a couple hours. Also had shakey fingers, thumbs, and knees. This went on for weeks or months. Can't remember. It took quite a while.
I was not on an ssri so that probably made it harder. Since you are on ssri it is my guess that will help a lot to stabilize things and balance things.

You check on the Withdrawal Board ... I am sure there are people there who have come off Zyprexa.

I gave it back after starting it due to the constant w/d situations id come across.Seems like this drug might need to be re-looked at in this manner since it seems to be effective until one wants to get off.

so r u saying u went back on the zyprexa or u gave it up because of the withdraws your having, Im feeling really rough today my last little tiny dose i took was on Friday and this morning was worse so far. I just do not want to start taking this medicine again but I am hoping he can give me some good news about how this will not last long. Thank You Suebird

I wish anyone who tries to go off Zyprexa the best of luck. I tried. I was not lucky. I switched from Zyprexa to Abilify in one episode. After several weeks, I developed severe and very painful muscle knots, and had to stay at home and be treated with serious pain meds (oxycodone) and muscle relaxants until the knots subsided. Even with the help of a massage therapist, getting the knots out took a month. But I never got past not being able to get a good night's sleep, so I caved and went back on the Zyprexa. I tried to go off of it again by replacing it with its cousin, Klonopin (both are forms of benzodiazepines, which are highly addictive in Klonopin, but maybe also in Zyprexa, even though it affects different brain transmitters). Anyway, after about 3 days I went into a highly dysphoric mania, followed by a severe depression that lasted a good month, even though I had started the Zyprexa again. That drug is certainly the monkey on my back, but it is also my salvation from severe Bipolar I with psychotic features, so I'm stuck with it. I've tried others, and nothing works like it does. Without health insurance, I couldn't "live with or without it", as the U2 song on this topic goes.

Well i went a total of three days without taking the zyprexa and had to go back on the 1/2 of the 2.5 mgs and started to feel better i just hate the tremors I get when I wake up in the morning from a deep sleep. The P-doc told me he is sure I would be able to come the rest of the way off of it its just going to take time i have to do it real real slow so in a few weeks I will drop the dose again and see how I do.
