trying to get off effexor xr - oh my gosh!!! pdoc pu me on wellbutrin while tapering of from effexor xr. did exectly what he suggested was totally off for 3 or 4 days. started vomitting on the way off could'nt keep anything down. called the pdoc - got his nurses voice mail. she called and said she thought i might be dehydrated but would check with doc and call back. hours later no call so I called her. Once again she said it sounded like dehydration maybe I should go to same day care clinic. she would call back later probably 4:30pm after pdoc saw my file. She called back at 4pm again suggested same day clinic and that the doc said to take effexor xr (37.5) once every other day for a week. Next day went to same day cae got fluids pumped into me that was Friday it's now Sunday. Only threw up twice but have had diareha ever since. Med doc told me no to take either effexor xr or wellbutrin for a couple of days or until I could keep something down. slow but steady 7-up, chicken noodle broth, jello has some what stayed down. scared to alone. real supportive husband. It's been really hard!!!! tady took 37.5 effexor xr have not thrown up but feel like it and have had diareha. Other side effects: hopelessness, scared, lonely, no energy, not able to sleep without ambien...did not cry today (so far)..Please help

Hard to believe there are still pdocs out there who are suggesting patients quit effexor cold turkey.
You might want to taper off the effexor more slowly. You can read here for suggested tapering schedules. Good luck.
