My pdoc says that my effexor is causing weight gain,night sweats, and is weening me off of the effexor. I am pretty nervous about coming off of it. but luckily I have xanax and klon saved up for emergencys. Any thoughts? Please help! I think it is the Lamital causing me my problems.

Yes suree bob...lol I was taking both together. Gained 50lbs over a period of 6months with exercise.

Which do you think did it ? and what did you do? Should I quit both or just the Lamictal? I do not know what to do . I am very afraid of withdrawel and going back to the craziness.

I've been on lamictal for two years and gained a ton of weight. I've told my pdoc to take me off of the lamictal since starting me on the topamax. He won't so I'm taking myself off slowly. I started at 300mg, now I'm down to 75mg. The only side effect thus far is a headache. Between the both of them I'm eating and dumb as a box of nails.

My pdoc took off the effexor and put me on wellbutrin. She said it was the effexor that was causing the weight gain. Whatever but I told her that weight gain was a huge problem thatwas effecting my mood. I dont mind a little weight gain but not this!!! She said after wellbutrin kicks in she would put me on topomax. After that I am finding another Pdoc who will actually inform me of these side affects! I do know that I heard that Lamictal can cause liver probs. Check with your doc. I would get screened for it just in case. I am sorry to say but some of those pdocs are not so good. O swear the just promote what ever they can for the kickbacks. We are their lab rats!
