I have been on xanax for 6 years. 6mg a day. I never thought I could get off it. It was to painful. Withdrawls were terrible. I found a doctor that got me off of it! Listen up. It took me 8 weeks to get off it. I was scared to death. Xanax was my crutch. But I realized that living life is more important than relying on a drug. Here is the schedule to take if you want to get off Xanax: Switch to Clonazepam 1mg 2 times a day for two weeks. Stage two: Take .05 Clonazepam twice a day for two weeks. Stage Three: Take .05mg of Clonezepam every other day until the dosage is done. This is the only program that acusally worked for me and want to share it with all of you that want to get off Xanax. I have tried many time to get off xanax with no prevail. I was almost in tears when the treatment was done, and I had NO side effect. Say that to yourself again. Its great to say. If any of you have question, email me at gpjacks@hotmail.com and I will be happy to help all of you with any info you need. Good Luck and God Bless

fitness355,
You wrote,[...Take .05mg of K every other day {untill the dosage >is done<}...]
Could you clarify as to how long the time period is for {untill the dosage is done}?

Hi Fitness,
Didn't you mean to say 0.5 mg of Clonazepam instead of .05 mg? Going from 1 mg to .05 mg in 2 weeks is a hell of a jump.

Sorry I was so vague in my description. Yes I meant .5 mg of K. In the 3rd stage he gave me 20 pills to be taken every other day. So that would make it last for 40 days. Any other questions, feel free to ask.

I am Xanax free. With no withdrawl symptom. I went to many doctor to try and get me off of it. It was the same answer, take on pill away every two days. Im in med school and I know that this is too fast of a taper. So I found another Dr. and I told him what I wanted to do and he said the best treatment is to swith to a longer lasting Benzo(Clonazepam). And the body needs an 8-10 peroid of time for your gabba receptors in your brain to come out of hibbernation. Without having this proper adjustment time all sorts of withdrawl effect could happen. Among them are seizures, develop a phsyciatric condition, and evev death. Hope this helps
