I just have to share this. I am wd off effexor. Not at my request. My doc thinks I don't need it as much as Concerta. The withdrw symptoms are awful. I feel crazy and in a constent state of panic. Like one big long panic attack. At any rate I called to make an emergency appointment, my doc is on vacation. I asked if anyone was covering and she says no. I then proceed to tell her it is an emergency. I am hysterical at this point (with a two yr old), and the recptionist says to me, w/attitude, if it is an emergency then go to the ER. And hung up on me. Thank God I am not suicidal. I'm not going to the ER, they'll tell me to go to my doc. What is wrong with theses people?????

oH! I have been there.
It took me days of suffering before I called.
I'm not one to ask for help and when I did I got my naughty little hand slapped!But-was it an actual office worker or nurse or did you get the answering service. If it was the answering service well..they don't give a care about the patients and they can't/won't be helpful at all.
This is what worked for me after a couple of calls that went nowhere. I just asked them to take my info in case the dr. checked in.
I got a call back in minutes.
Some little game they play I guess to keep from messing with the Dr. if it's not real important.Don't take it personal-even if they were meaning to be. You have a right to be cared for.
Withdrawal is miserable.
There are effective stratagies to ease your pain.
Your Dr. needs to help you-if he does not then call around (or get a friend to do it for you)Peace,
Kaye

Thank you so much, it helps to others feel the same way, although I don't wish it on my worst enemy. I saw my family doc today and she is helping with my meds until I get a new Phsy MD. Thanks again
