It is too bad that your doctor didn't elect to simply add the Wellbutrin to the Effexor. It makes a good combination.

Wellbutrin can produce anxiety and irritability early in treatment, but it often disappears. I am currently taking 300mg. After 3 weeks, the anxiety is virtually gone. I am combining it with nortriptyline, so I imagine I am more susceptible to this as a side effect. It might not affect you like that at all. Wellbutrin is a good drug that is worth evaluating.

What are you taking Wellbutrin for?

What is your target dosage?

You might want to post some questions on the main board.

Good luck.

Hi Marsh! I sure hope Wellbutrin will work good for you. They switched me from the Effexor to Zoloft back before X-mas, then, from Zoloft to Wellbutrin. I could only take the Wellbutrin for 1 wk because it caused me to have a lot of anxiety. I actually went into the Dr's office having an anxiety attack, (which was brought on by some problems with my daughter at school)so, they switched me , yet again, to Effexor 75mgs. No wonder I am crazy!!!!! lol Anyhow, that was my experience with the Wellbutrin. My neighbor took Wellbutrin to try to quit smoking, and, she loved it! She wants to take it for the rest of her life. lol Maybe it will be good for you like that too!
Good luck!

wellbutrin made my anxiety worse and it eventually made me hypomanic. two weeks off of effexor means that you are still going through withdrawal symptoms. could you give your body more time to find its' own balance, before trying another medication? supposedly there are no withdrawal symptoms from wellbutrin, but this is false. all psychiatric medications have withdrawal symptoms...no matter what the doctors are saying.
