I take 450 mg of Trileptal and I would like to discontinue it. What would be the safest way to wean off of it.
When I was in the hospital they dropped it to 300 mg and then just stopped it. I went psychotic/manic. So I know I need to do it more slowly than that.

450mg is a medium to low dosage for Trileptal. I needed 600mg to feel anything at all.
How high had you gone with Trileptal and for how long?
I came off of 900mg rather quickly. I can't remember exactly what I did, but I probably reduced the dosage by 300mg every 3 days. For me, I probably would go to 300mg for a few days, then 150 for a few days, and then discontinue.
Have you ever had a seizure before?

When I went into the hospital they put me on 600 mg. Then up to 900 mg and I was very sick on that. Then they decided they wanted to see what I would be like without the Trileptal.
I guess now is the time when I find out if I need a mood stabiliser.
