SSRI withdrawls or something bad????

Posted by psychopharmaddict on December 12, 2005, at 17:27:15

Hi, Ill try and be brief, but I was on ZOloft for about 2-3 yrs, then switched to lexapro about 1yr ago, 10mg, which then thinking that I dont need this drug anymore due to the coctail I take now:

This cocktail I been taking for 2 yrs:

Lexapro 10mg (before that zoloft 50-100mg) 3yrs
Adderall 30mg 2-3x day
Klonopin .5mg 2x day
Suboxone 4mg day

Note, the jump from zoloft to lexapro, was ok, no problems, I tried to stop ssris (lexapro) about 6 months ago , and had to jump back on them due to this same darn feeling.
I titrated over one month 10mg to 5mg, then another month 5mg to 2.5mg, then maybe a good 2 weeks 2.5mg to 1mg or chips of pieces. Well about 2days after my last chip , all lexapro stopped, I began getting electric shock sensantions, nausea, loss of appetite, angry, like manic, acting out, for about 4 days, laid in bed, just staring at TV, when usually im doing 1000 things due to adderall, which seemed to stop working.

I feel this little bit of SSRI, (lexapro not the culprit , but any of the SSRIS,) are potentiating the coctail, and removing this, was like removing a peice of concrete from the base of a building, and problems came.

I have 10mg pills of PAXIL, which I had from 3 yrs ago, im not sure of outdated or whatnot would be a factor, but I could not stand this , and took 2.5mg of paxil.

To end this, 2 questions I Have. Opinon wise, would anyone keep with taking paxil, (no more lexapro, and my old doctor im not with anymore), just to rid this entire mental feeling, and also, what is occurring. Now i took this paxil, and I feel not much better, still nausea, a feeling of unconfortableness, and heart rate up a bit, so i took a little bit of klonopin.

Sorry if this is confusing, but in whole, SSRI withdrawls, even when taking 3 other potent more addictive drugs, seems to be more problem or just as much a problem as the addictive ones when stopped. ANd i also stopped a small dose, tapered, yet been on SSRIS for 4 yrs total.

Thank you , and any opinions or help would be a releif, or a steer in the right direction.

That's what I don't understand. Pdocs have no hesitation prescribing an SSRI but are so afraid of addiction form benzos they will not prescribe them in so many cases. Don't they even have an inkling as to what some people go through from stopping an SSRI? They are brainwashed. Fondly, Phillipa
