Has anyone out there discontinued Cymbalta with little or no side effects? So far I'm OK I have decreased my dosage from 120 mg to 60 mg with very few issues. Today I went from 60 mg to
30 mg and I'm scared to death the side effects are going to start. I have read tons of postings that have addressed horrible withdrawl symptoms. I have never had a brain zap and hope to keep it that way.My plan is to decrease next week to 15 mg for seven days and then just "cold turkey it!" Am I crazy? Is this to fast? I have been on many different AD for 10 years. Cymbalta worked great for my moods but my god I'm so FAT I can't stand it. I sweat constantly, I could sleep any day anytime anywhere! I go from feeling dazed and confused to a burst of energy making plans and starting projects that never get finished because I'm backed to being dazed again! I'm certainly not against meds but for now I have to get off this stuff!
Any suggestions out there? If my side effects are minimal now will they remain minimal? Is the worst yet to come? Has ANYONE out there weaned off this stuff without a problem?

I haven't tapered, but I have run out and gone into withdrawal. It wasn't pleasant, but compared to Effexor, it was certainly bearable. Mostly a kind of flulike feeling, with a nasty head. Not a headache, just kinda feeling like it wanted to detach...
My guess is that you probably won't have too much trouble, although that could be wrong. I think, when my time comes, I'll probably try one pill every other day for a time or two, to try to ease off it. You might try that.
Good luck. And, by the way, what does your doctor say?

Hi Racer,
Thanks for the response. I actually feel pretty good today. I'm down to 30 mg, so far so good. Prior to decreasing my dosage I did try to contact my treating physician, we just never managed to connect. After a week of phone tag I decided it was time for a little "online" education. I know it's not the best choice but I assure you I will contact my doctor immediately if things get to rough for me to handle. Wish me luck & thanks again!TMP

I got off of cymbalta about a week and a half ago. I went straight back to prozac. (I had some in my cabinet). I have experiences episodes of sadness last week. Some moments were really bad. Most of the time it was o.k. I am ok now. Suicide crossed my mind, but there was no way in the world I wad gonna do it. I am fine now.
What does your doctor say?
Just be aware that you could experience withdrawal symptoms and get help right away if you need to.
