Hi,
I've been taking Xanax XR .5mg for a little over a year now and would like to go off of it. Do I need to taper down from such a small dose and if so can anyone tell me how to go about it? Since it's time-released I'm not sure where to begin. I didn't take it yesterday morning and by late afternoon I felt very spacey and light-headed. I took a small dose of regular alprazolam (.25) and that helped somewhat. I'm just wondering if I should continue in this way: ie take the regular xanax when symptoms get too uncomfortable. ??

Can you break up your Xanax XR thingo and take part of it? I think I'd want to do that.

I'd think that would effect the timerelease effect. Fondly, Phillipa

That's the problem, I don't think you can.

I didn't want to say it but you can't. They are called "bars" by my daughter-in-law. Truly though I heard the regular xanax works better. Fondly,Phillipa
