Lexapro causing anxiety after 12 weeks?

Posted by chess on May 26, 2005, at 19:56:25

I'm trying to figure out if my anxiety is coming from me or if it's being caused by Lexapro

I've been on Lexapro for 12 weeks now (8 weeks on 20mg, 4 weeks on 30mg) for anxiety/panic/ocd

I still have anxiety and am wondering if Lexapro could be causing some of my anxiety now?

I know that SSRIs can cause anxiety in the first 2-3 weeks of use, but could Lexapro be causing some of my anxiety now after 12 weeks of being on it?

I need to figure this out because it's interfering with my CBT work, when you're trying to deal with anxiety and desensitize yourself you want to know that the medication your taking isn't causing anxiety.

Thanks all!

If you feel intuitively that the Lex is causing or increasing your anxiety, then it probably is.

But - is your anxiety worse than before the Lex? Better? The same?

For me, SSRIs increase anxiety, no matter how long I stay on them.
