withdrawl symptoms of Zoloft

Posted by missred on May 9, 2005, at 23:56:28

I quit 200mg Zoloft with a "kicker" of Welbutrin last year. it took almost 6 months. the symptoms never abated until months after the last micor dose. I went very slowly (contrary to doctor's advice). I was amazed the withdrawls were still there at the very end with such a meager dossage. I'm perimenopausal and was frightened of HRT, so, very stupidly, I went back on Zoloft to deal with the mood swings, etc. Now, I've learned about "bioidentical" hormones and want to get off this Zoloft again. Would you feel it would be better to get the hormones situated before trying to withdrawl from the Zoloft. God, I feel like such a slave to this drug. I can feel the effects by noon or 2pm, if i haven't had my dosage. Would you recommend starting by breaking up the 200 mg dossage 1st?

Seriously, does zoloft really work for anxiety and depression with a lot of negativity thrown in? I have been taking 25mg of zoloft for about 3months. I was told to raise the dose as high as 200mg but I've been afraid. Also can't stand another failure. This I take with a total of l5mg of valium. I would love to work again, and be able to socialize. I took bioidentical hormones, the cream formulated by a Rx. I didn't notice a thing from them. But, since I've been off of them I do notice a lot of fat around my middle. Fondly, Phillipa

Hi - have been taking sertraline (Zoloft) for six months with no significant improvement in depressive symptoms although anxiety is better. But then that may be due to other factors. Certainly the measureable, physical factors haven't improved - sleep, weight loss etc.
Am now stopping, only taking 50mg now - really need to cut down further but am scared of the withdrawal - going down to 50 has made me so unwell! Do ADs actually work? And well enough to justify the side effects and withdrawal symptoms?
