The withdrawal Board has a lot of experts there. Evidently I misinterpreted your post and thought you wanted to change benzos. Fondly, Phillipa

I too am trying to discontinue Xanax XR (3mg BID) I am into week 6-7 of this schedule and thus far no complications. Unlike numerous attempts before.

The plan adds valium because of it's extraordinarily long T to 1/2 plasma, of almost 300 hours in certain cases. Valium is ideal for withdrawal from this class of drugs as it does last so long. Hopefully avoiding adverse withdrawal side effects. I highly recommend the Ashton Manual -- Thus far it has been the only thing that has worked for me.

I would like to think I am knowledgable on the subject as I am a MS2 MD student. Yet it would seem that everything I have learned about GABA enhancing drugs has been false pro re experience.

Best of luck,
Feel free to contact me if you need any more advice. I may be slow to respond but hopefully I can offer some useful advice. Aside from that I hope you will read through or skim the Ashton Manual -- It is a very solid plan for benzo withdrawal, I highly recommend it.

Best of luck.

Regards,

Matt
