(Redirect) effexor withdrawal symptoms

Hello
I was taking 300mg per day for 5 years plus. As of 4 days ago I decided to quit "cold turkey." Infomation that I have read from the internet is helpful to explain some of the weird sensations I am having.
Intense night sweating
Virtigo
Extremely violent nightmares.
Does anyone have any suggestions to help speed these withdrawal symptoms?

Help!

Of all the meds I've tried, I had the hardest time quitting Effexor XR... first of all the side effects while I was ON it were *awful* and I couldn't wait to get off it ASAP... but the more I cut down, the more I suffered from the "brain zaps" and lots of sweating, day and night. I also just felt goofy, kind of detatched. I just had to tough it out.

But, if you've been on it for 5 years, perhaps quitting cold turkey isn't right for you. It goes much more smoothly if you can go gradually...

wow..you must be having an intense ride. Everything that I have read about effexor withdrawal emphasizes very slow tapering to deal with the symptoms. I have been on 75mg for over a year. I am gradually cutting down and it is rough. Lots of water and exercise help a bit. I have been on zoloft, paxil and celexa and the withdrawal from those pale in comparison to effexor.
I have also had the best results from effexor. My insurance has lapsed and I can no longer afford it.
Jimmy, I suggest slowing down. The risk of suicide from withdrawal is a very real risk.
