I'm new here but I plan to post a couple questions now for your responses.
First of all, I'm wondering about whether or not other people who take Effexor XR experience some withdrawl symptoms after only being a few hours behind on your med? For example if on Monday you took Effexor at 8 a.m. and then Tuesday you didn't take it until 11 a.m. - can you tell?
I can tell when I have forgotten to take it. I start feeling down and anxious. Previously, my MD told me that I shouldn't notice anything that soon, but I told her that I know my body and I can tell. So help me and tell me if I'm the only one who experiences this. I am on 75 mg daily. Another question regarding dosage I have is- are there some of you that take a dose twice a day- say in my case 37.5 mg. in the a.m. and again in the p.m.? I was on 150mg and since November have cut to 75 mg. Each time, I did have about 5 days of really feeling lousy and then I seemed to come around. Even at 75 mg. though- I don't feel great everyday- like I want to. Thanks!

YES, you can feel withdrawals even if it's just from missing a regularly scheduled dose.
One of my closest friends is on Effexor, once when we were out to lunch, she missed her dose by a few hours.. By the time we left, she felt dizzy, sick to her stomach, and thought she was getting the flu.
She remembered she missed her dose, took her pill, and in by that night was fine.
She said this has happened every time she missed even ONE single dose.
Effexor scares me because of such things but if it is working for you... take the bad and be thankful for the good.

I was also at 150mgXR/once a day then went down to 75mgXR/once a day. Took me about 2 weeks to stabilize. I have felt even better at 75mg. than the higher dose.
I am now trying to taper off. I've switched from one 75mgXR capsule to taking one 37.5mg tablet in the a.m. and one 37.5mg tablet in the p.m--exactly 12 hours apart. My body noticed a little difference the first 3 days--horrible headache and a little anxious, but that has now gone and I am going to start shaving ever so small amounts both the morning and p.m. dose.
If I have trouble I will resort to only shaving some off in the morning and leave the night dose as is until my body gets use to that. Once my body settles down, I'd then shave off the nightly dose.
I'm going to keep doing this until I am completely off. I am giving my self a year--yes a year. The slower, the better.

I felt withdrawal symptoms very quickly too, and was also told it was not "possible." When I first started taking Effexor it felt like I could actually feel my synapses firing in my brain - weird stuff. Completely off it now after 2 months of weaning off slowly. Can't wait for everything to go away!
