I just got off Effexor & have been off it for about 8 days. Even though I weaned off it over a two week period I went through a nasty withdrawal and didn't even realize at first what was happening. I had the brainzaps, confusion, headaches and nausea big time. Dramamine helped a lot with the nausea but not with the other stuff. I just had to suffer through it but it would have been easier if I'd known what was happening to me. I haven't replaced it with anything else yet even though the depression has returned because I am frightened to death to try another drug. Effexor was just one in a long list that I'd gone through but right now I don't know if I can handle any more side effects of ANYTHING

Hi.

Why did you discontinue Effexor?
Can you describe in detail how you went about tapering over the two week period? Were you taking any other drugs at the time?
Some people find that Benadryl or Claritin D help mitigate many of the withdrawal symptoms. They are both antihistamines that are sold over-the-counter.
What other drugs are you thinking of trying? I can certainly understand your aversion to taking any right now.
