I went cold turkey off 10mg of zyprexa after 10 days of use (I went off, got insomnia, went back on for three days, then off again when I got muscle spasms). After a few weeks (right around Christmas), my head started to feel strange and I began getting songs stuck in my head. Also, I have emotional blunting. I can't feel any pleasure or fear or any other emotions. It's quite frightening. Has anyone else experienced blunting or psychic numbing from zyprexa or its withdrawal? Is it temporary?
Thanks. (BTW, I was taking it for anxiety. I am not psychotic.)

Hi:
The 10 mg. Zyprexa is a sort 'mass' dosage. The recommend dosage is said to be the 5 mg.In my VERY first dosage was just 'smallest dosage' 2.5 mg., even that 'little' dosage, it made me quite 'drowsy' and 'sleepy' lasted next day until my system started to 'used to it.' Now, I've been on the 5 mg. along with other meds. due to my dx. with Bp II that has mostly 'depressive episodes.'
From my experience, ... I tried to cut down its dosage, from the 5 mg. to 2.5 mg. after a stability of my Bp II, however I started to experience 'insomnia,' 'irritability,' 'Anxiety,'few more (I can't remember every details, tho'), then I can say 'withdrawal' is not what we, Zyprexa-takers to forsee/expect. Afterwards, I went back to an original dosage, the 5 mg., that bounced me back to the 'normalcy.'
In my 'five years' use' of the Zyprexa, I've never experienced, 'any blunting or psychic numbing.' Rather, I'm VERY happy about an existence/presence of the Zyprexa, as knowing with this med., Zyprexa I've been leading almost 'normal' life without worrying about my mental breakdown.
In my suggestion, .... probably you may need to call your rx'ed pdoc. to get appropriate direction.

Zyprexa emotionaly blunts you. When you come off it your emotions come back. You must be getting over the after effects, it takes a while to mentaly make the change. Takes the zyprexa a while to get out of your system.
