Let me start by saying that in the past I have had a Ritalin habit (which I've mentioned elsewhere) that was one of the most difficult habits I have personally had to break. Which is my way of saying I know how stupid I was being regarding this.
Anyway, I recently came across a small supply of unopened (unexpired) 10 MG Ritalin tablets. I took the Ritalin on several occasions trying to achieve some positive effect.
As towards the later part of my prior experience regardless of method or dosage all I managed to achieve was varying levels of anxiousness and raised heart rate/bp.
Gone were the creative bursts, euphoria or even anything remotely resembling pleasant stimulation. I felt much more like I'd taken an overly large dose of caffeine pills or similar.
In fact I'd probably have concocted a scenario where the pills may have in fact been counterfeit but aside from the pristine packaging which would have been expensive of duplicate this lack of effects too nearly mirrored my prior experience where the pill/brand/source where all completely different.
Anyway, I'm not looking for someone to explain how I can abuse Ritalin again. It seems clear to me that for one reason or another this option is simply off the table.
What I am curious about is why this would happened. At first I worried about brain damage from my earlier abuse. But were that the case I'm no worse or better off functionally then I was before. I've actually accomplished a lot more since I'd stopped using the first time and work in a technical field that requires a lot of reading and constant updating of existing knowledge (computers).
I have taken more traditional (ie, non-scheduled) stimulants on occasion (I drink coffee in moderation, etc) with the expected results. At the time I'd attempted to take the Ritalin I wasn't using any other drugs or supplements.
Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone would have any idea or had had similar experiences. I'm sure it's for the best, but it does leave me quite curious.

The best simplified answer I can give is like this. I've been drinking coffee for 5 years. I started with decaf, then moved to regular coffee. Then I discovered expresso. Then I started to have two shots of expresso, finally arriving to 4 shots with half and half milk. Now my body has developed a tolerance to the expresso to where it is no longer a stimulant, it's simply another beverage that I drink that's not effective for say people that drink it to stay awake in the morning or start their day. I can drink it right before bed and go straight to sleep because I've developed a tolerance to it. It's the same way with ritalin and other stimulants.

Thanks. My understanding was that tolerance diminishes over time (which is why people will take "holidays" from medications that tend to build tolerance). 6 years (at least) is a LONG holiday. But I guess it's for the best.
I used to smoke (and loved to) then one day in my late twenties it started making me feel physically ill. I quit, without much trouble or options. Maybe my body decided it had had enough here too. (:

I took ritalin for a short while until it stopped working..my pdoc told me before I started that it may quit working..apparently it's not that uncommon with adults

Funny 7you should say,about how when you next tried ritalin,the buzz had gone,and you thought it was a dud pack.This wouldnt happen to be from the nineties over the millenium would it? I dont know about ritalin but thats when they took mdma out of dexedrine,changed the name to an F AMFERT.....Not in any 2007 dict/no abb no such a drug.Also do you know when first prescribed dexedrine they give you a much stronger version,so addiction is totally unavoidable.Were a buch of lab rats.....making money for the goverment.Any questions ask me,ill find out...something is very wrong with the uk controlled drug laws.and people are being locked up when another can write a piece of paper out and give 1000s out at a time.Dont get me wrong im not into smuggeling or anything.....but come on.open your eyes,use your brain 4 gods sake.Alone i cant do it,but together we could get them to court and leather the nhs/goverment....i got the names of the drugs first used as dexedrine....hope to hear....steve
