Happiness + Unhappiness

Posted by gadchik on October 6, 2014, at 12:34:24

"Happiness is always a by-product. It is probably a matter of temperament, and for anything I know it may be glandular. But it is not something that can be demanded from life, and if you are not happy you had better stop worrying about it and see what treasures you can pluck from your own brand of unhappiness"-Robert son Davies

People around the world living in wretched conditions still feel joy. It's possible to feel joy when everything is bleak. Happiness is fleeting at best. Joy stays. I watched a speaker last night on ted talks that knows the Dalai Lama. He said he feels every single persons pain, every death, but at the same time feels joy and happiness.
In Philippians 4, Paul said, in whatsoever state I'm in, therewith to be content. That's pretty powerful stuff.
