i am grateful that i get to stay in my current accommodation until (at least) Feb 2015.
i am grateful that my biology labs are going well.
i am grateful that the weather is so pleasant.
i am grateful that i got through a couple of hard weeks without having a meltdown.
i am grateful for coffee... for having enough money to enjoy little luxuries. the odd craft beer.
i am grateful that babble is still here...
i am grateful that i got the opportunity to study more broadly.
i am grateful that i can study full time next year and that my current government payments will just keep on until (at least) December 2014.
I am grateful that my grades this year... Only matter insofar as I need entry to next year. It helps lift the pressure a bit for me... Helps me rage a little less at the... Uh... Arbitrariness of it all... I am remembering that there really are quite a significant bunch of reasons why people don't tend to do well in their first year and that a lot of it has to do with the very nature of first year classes.
I am grateful that I will have 4 nicely designed classes next year. And that I will have the... Uh... Opportunity to develop my 'just grin and bear it' skills for the other classes next year. Safe in the knowledge that so long as I pass them alright... My grades in the other classes... Really don't matter. Coming back to the 'there is a whole bunch of reasons why people do badly in first year' thing...
I am grateful that I am starting to accumulate the books etc that I need.
I am grateful that there is a holiday soon.
I am grateful that... I am doing okay. Feeling okay. Feeling like things are progressing. Ticking along.
Yeah.

Nice.
I occasionally take inventory of things that I am grateful for - probably not enough, though.

Good list, Alexandra :) I am happy for you that you are in school and enjoying it. It seems like a nice container, something structured that you enjoy, but also challenging.
I am grateful that I applied to 2 jobs recently. Customer service (blah), but in subjects that I have a passion for like art and books.
I am grateful I went for a walk this morning. It felt good to do it and I'm just glad I did.
I am grateful for my teacher in my online writing class. She's really nice, and gives great encouraging feedback, and makes me want to write more.
I'm grateful for my doodle journal (or, sketchbook) :P
I'm grateful that there are so many free libraries around me. I love to read, and I found some really good books there the other day.

Alex - Your whole tone has changed so much in the last year, since you moved and started on this science program. It's a wonderful transformation.
I am on a list of 10 people who email 3 things they are grateful for every day. Some days, it's hard to come up with things. But it's a great discipline.
Today, I am grateful for all these terrific TV series that provide diversion from work and from sometimes feeling too isolated. Finished The Wire, Veep, Breaking Bad, Dexter, House of Cards, Homeland. Just started The Killing. I have a whole list of shows to start once the Killing is done.
Don't have a TV. Just a subscription to Netflix and HBO on my laptop. $18/month for both.

Hey. I was half way through a post you you yesterday and then I realised I was nearly late for class so I had to shut up my computer and get out the door...
I thought of you and then I remembered your gratitude lists :)
They help me feel better :)
School is a container for me, yeah. Even when I rant at it sometimes... It is far better than anything else I could think of doing :)
Well done in applying for job. I used to find that a really hard thing to do. To get yourself into the spirit of wanting it enough to put in a good application but not wanting it so much so as to feel too disappointed if things didn't work out. I'm not sure that is something that you ever get used to...

Thanks Baseball. I think my tone still has its moments... But it is mostly doing much better, yeah. I was in a pretty black place last year... And the year before... This year has gone much better for me. Even the things that piss me off... Aren't as bad as the things that pissed me off before. Though... Backed up sewerage pipes vs being bitten by bugs... That one was a close call... They dealt with the sewerage in pretty good time, actually... But then I did get a new mattress out of the bug situation and that means really rather a lot to me.
I think we might be able to subscribe to (access at least some of) Netflix... I need to look into that...
We can't get much over here because of zoning restrictions. I remember getting into all these shows that I could watch for free when I was in the US but the sites didn't work once I moved back to Australasia...
We have just got 'lightbox' which has some series... Not heaps... But some... 30 days free then $30 per month. I enjoyed the first season of Orange is the New Black. Watched Boston Legal till I tired of it. About 4 episodes into Crash (not entirely sure whether I'm enjoying it or not). I don't think I'll subscribe once my trial is up...
It is nice to have TV, yeah. Computer games can also be good... Watch out for World of Warcraft, though. Though I much preferred things before the cataclysm...
This is the end of the thread.
