And in a tiny place. Surrounded by my books, music playing what I want and when I want, connected to the internet, my cat slinking around wide eyed and spooked. We are going to be fine.

Thank you. I had many doubts I could do it. Many tears yesterday's, and many hugs from complete strangers. The universe is good. I am glad I was able to persevere.
It might take me a few months to unpack! but that's another issue.
Truly tripping over myself,
CS

Congratulations! Since I moved out in June, people come up to me and say - you look so calm and focused, so much better. There's a lot to be said for leaving a stressful, unhappy situation, even if you feel - as I did - a lot of ambivalence about it.
Keep on keeping on.

Glad to hear you have your own space with internet etc!
It took me a while to relax about not hearing other people noises... Enough to wholeheartedly embrace making my own. With respect to actually enjoying having the TV on in the background or music etc. There is something to be said for it being on ones own terms rather than it feeling like an imposition.
Anyway... It will be interesting to see how much you decompress over time...

Hi CS,
Glad to hear that you are settling in. Take your time unpacking and figuring out where you want to put everything and arranging the cabinets, closets, etc. Finally some peace and quiet and quality time with your cat.

This move was good for her, too. Hmm.

seriously, though... you will probably start to feel lonely at some point. you could invite people over. from group. or wherever... or you could venture out to the big wide world... and have nobody to answer to about where you have been and what you have been up to when you get back...
i... love my personal space. love it love it love it love it love it. don't know what i'd do without it.
i hope... you find happiness...

It's here for me, and I am discovering it. I see a lot of my friends now. I am still unpacking (slowly) and even picking up things that I hadn't taken with with me. Right now my car has things I put into it this morning, but I am taking a rest before unloading it, because the full moon upset my sleep last night and the dentist's visit combined to give me a bit of a headache.
But the peace...the easy quiet...the music of my choice. The ease with which I am making this transition makes it obvious that this is where I am meant to be. No time for ill feelings, and any sadness will eventually pass. Kind of blows my mind that I have spent so many of my years in marriages - but I had much to learn, and it took this long to do that. I am OK with that.
Once I get my cooking gear I will be in my element. My new pots and pans are en route. This truly is a joyful renewal.
This is the end of the thread.
